Proposed X and Grok Subscription Changes

X, formerly Twitter, may be considering a new subscription setup that brings Grok access to more pricing tiers. According to an internal document viewed by Bloomberg, SpaceXAI is weighing a four-tier structure that combines X and Grok subscriptions.

The proposed options would range from a free tier with stricter Grok usage limits to a $100-per-month Ultra plan for heavier users. The plans are still under consideration, and SpaceXAI did not respond to Bloomberg’s request for comment.

A Proposed $8 Lite Plan With Verification

One proposed option is an $8-per-month Lite tier. It could include:

  • Grok access
  • A blue verified checkmark
  • Fewer ads on X

If introduced, Lite would offer verification at the same monthly price as X Premium’s current web price, while also placing Grok in another subscription level.

What the Proposed Ultra Plan Could Include

At the high end of the proposed structure, the $100-per-month Ultra plan could include Grok Bot. Grok Bot is described as a SpaceXAI agent designed to perform tasks on a user’s behalf.

Bloomberg’s report does not spell out the other proposed tiers or the exact Grok usage limits that would apply to each plan. That leaves important details unresolved, including how the new structure would differ across subscription levels beyond Lite and Ultra.

Grok’s Growing Role in X Subscriptions

Grok has become more central to X’s paid offerings. Premium currently includes higher Grok limits, while Premium+ adds SuperGrok and Grok Bot.

X has already made major changes to its subscription pricing as Grok became more closely tied to the service. Following the Grok 3 launch in 2025, Premium+ rose to $40 per month from its previous $22 monthly price.

The reported proposal would make the connection between X access and Grok access more direct. Under the potential structure, subscribers would be choosing both the level of X features they want and the amount of Grok access they need.
