Tipster @phonefuturist, also known as Schrodinger online, reports that the two companies are working on a next-generation Gorilla Armor protective coating. This version centers on healing micro-scratches that form on the surface. Instead of simply making the glass harder to mark in the first place—the direction manufacturers have taken so far—the new coating could allow everyday wear and tear to fade over time.
Samsung has increasingly relied on harder protective coatings in recent flagships. This reported shift toward a self-healing surface would mark a clear change in strategy. If the reports hold up, the company could market the S27 Ultra as a phone whose display recovers from scratches rather than just resisting them. The device is expected early next year.
Galaxy S27 Series Pricing and Specs

The base model could start at $899. It would carry a 50MP + 12MP + 10MP camera setup and use Samsung’s M14 panel, similar to the one found on the Galaxy S26. The S27 Plus is expected to mirror that exact camera and display configuration at $1,099.
The Pro version is listed at $1,299. Its camera setup jumps to 200MP + 50MP + 12MP, and it may move to the company’s new M16 panels. Those panels are described as offering higher brightness and improved efficiency. The Ultra sits at the top of the range at $1,499. It would feature 200MP + 50MP + 50MP sensors and a specific display model called M16 E7.
Design Changes Across the Lineup
On the design side, the Pro appears to be the only model receiving a genuine overhaul. Reports describe a thinner, Edge-inspired look. The Ultra is said to borrow a similar design language while incorporating only subtle tweaks from the concepts that have circulated so far.
