Google’s Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL take the lead in this year’s lineup with brighter, more durable displays, stronger camera zoom, and a new HiLight LED array around the flash. While the standard Pixel 11 sticks to more modest updates, these two Pro models add the Tensor G6 chip, refined cameras, and software tools that expand what the phones can do day to day.

Tensor G6 Chip, Storage, and Memory

Both Pro models move to Google’s Tensor G6 processor and Titan M3 security chip. The company says the new chip offers up to 20% better power efficiency, 25% faster browsing, and 15% faster app loading than the previous Tensor G5. Its TPU is 50% more powerful and helps power features such as faster Instant Night Sight captures. Titan M3 brings post-quantum cryptography and meets the same certification standard used for SIM and bank cards.

Storage steps up on the Pixel 11 Pro. The base model now starts at 256GB instead of 128GB. The Pro XL keeps its 256GB base. A 1TB option remains available on both phones. RAM is lower on the entry configurations. All Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL models shipped with 16GB. The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL start at 12GB on the base storage tier, with 16GB reserved for the 512GB and 1TB versions.

Battery Size and Charging Speeds

Battery capacity edges down on both phones. The Pixel 11 Pro carries a 4,850mAh cell, slightly less than the 4,870mAh unit in the Pixel 10 Pro. The Pro XL drops from 5,200mAh to 5,115mAh.

Wired charging stays at 30W on the Pro and 45W on the Pro XL. Google still claims a small speed gain on the Pro XL, which now reaches 75% in 30 minutes instead of the previous 70%. Wireless charging on the Pro jumps from 15W to 25W, matching the Pro XL. Google reports a 29% average wireless charging speed improvement on the Pro and 17% on the Pro XL when tested with its Pixelsnap charger. Both phones add Extreme Charging Mode, which focuses the phone’s performance on charging for a quicker top-up. A vapor chamber helps pull heat away from the processor and battery during charging and longer use.

Brighter Display and Camera Upgrades

Peak brightness rises from 3,300 nits to 3,600 nits. The phones still use Gorilla Glass Victus 2, now paired with an anti-scratch shield that Google says improves scratch resistance by more than 2x. Screen sizes and resolutions stay the same: 6.3-inch 1280 x 2856 on the Pro and 6.8-inch 1344 x 2992 on the Pro XL, both with a 1-120Hz refresh rate.

The main camera remains a 50MP sensor with an f/1.68 aperture and 1/1.3-inch size. Google claims 2x optical quality improvements over the Pixel 10 Pro. The ultrawide is a 48MP unit with an f/1.7 aperture and 1/2.51-inch sensor that includes autofocus. The telephoto lens is still 48MP with 5x optical zoom, but it now uses a larger 1/1.95-inch sensor that Google says gathers 32% more light. Pro Zoom reaches 120x, up from 100x.

The 42MP front camera is unchanged. New options include Pro controls for manual adjustments and a High-Res mode that saves stills at the full 50MP resolution. Instant Night Sight is exclusive to the Pro models. Video gains Pro Stable Video and 8K recording powered by Video Boost.

Design Refresh and HiLight

The camera bar now uses edge-to-edge glass that flows into the metal frame. Color choices shift to Canyon, Olive, and Fog, with Obsidian returning in a matte finish. Both phones add HiLight, an array of ambient LEDs around the flash that glow when the phone sits face down. The lights can signal calls from favorite contacts or show when Gemini is listening.

Physical size stays the same. The Pixel 11 Pro measures 6.0 x 2.8 x 0.3 inches and the Pro XL measures 6.4 x 3.0 x 0.3 inches. Weight drops slightly to 7.2 ounces on the Pro and 8.0 ounces on the Pro XL. Both keep the IP68 rating and aluminum frame. Connectivity options remain Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, UWB, and USB-C 3.2.

Android 17 Software Features

The phones ship with Android 17. Magic Capture can crop and unblur photos in one tap. Camera Looks adds custom film-style presets, and Circle to Search now works inside the Pixel Camera app. Gemini Intelligence can handle tasks such as ordering groceries, booking a ride, or calling businesses, with a live transcript available so users can follow or take over the conversation.

Live Translate works on videos, podcasts, and voice messages in real time. A sign language translation feature uses the camera to convert sign language into text. Call Screen and Scam Detection work together to flag suspicious calls and texts. Voice-to-text now strips filler words such as “umm” automatically.

One change cuts the free Google AI Pro trial that comes with a Pro purchase from one year to six months. The trial still includes expanded Gemini usage limits, 5TB of cloud storage, and Google Health Premium.
