Two separate OnePlus 16 leaks surfaced within days of each other, and both describe hardware changes rather than software tweaks. One covers the camera system. The other covers the battery and charging. Neither has been confirmed by OnePlus.
The first 200MP sensor in a OnePlus flagship
An X post from OnePlusClub claims the OnePlus 16 will carry the company's first 200MP primary camera sensor. The OnePlus 15 currently uses a 50MP main sensor, so the jump in resolution would be considerable on paper.
Separate rumors circulated earlier about a 200MP periscope telephoto lens on the same device. If both claims hold, the OnePlus 16 would pair two 200MP sensors in a single camera array. That configuration is not unprecedented. The Vivo X300 Ultra takes a comparable approach to its camera hardware.
There is a less dramatic possibility that fits the leaks equally well. OnePlus may fit a single 200MP sensor as the main camera and leave the remaining two cameras at 50MP. Nothing in the current leaks rules that out.
A dual-cell battery pack built from two 4,390mAh cells
Leaker Digital Chat Station reports that trial production of the OnePlus 16 has already started. According to that leak, the phone uses a dual-cell pack made up of two 4,390mAh cells. Added together, that gives a minimum combined capacity of 8,780mAh.
The same tipster cited a rated energy of 33.11Wh at 7.54V. Capacity figures usually get rounded upward for marketing purposes, so the typical capacity quoted on a spec sheet would likely sit closer to 9,000mAh.
If the numbers are accurate, this would be the largest battery OnePlus has ever put in a flagship phone. The qualifier matters. The OnePlus Nord 6, a mid-range model launched in India, already ships with a 9,000mAh battery, so the OnePlus 16 would not be the biggest battery in the company's lineup overall.
Charging figures are incomplete
The battery leak lists 100W wired charging for the OnePlus 16. It says nothing about wireless charging, even though earlier rumors mentioned 50W wireless support. Whether that omission means the feature was dropped or simply wasn't part of this particular leak is unclear.
Availability is the open question
OnePlus has already announced that it is leaving the North American market, and a report suggests a wider global exit could follow by 2027. That changes the context for any OnePlus 16 launch, since the phone would primarily serve the company's home market and a small number of others.
