Namecheap experienced a major outage after a cooling system failure at its Phoenix data center. The company’s own website went offline along with many of its services. CEO Hillan Klein posted on X that customer services could start coming back online around 3:00–3:30 p.m. ET based on conditions at the time.
PhoenixNAP, the data center involved, reported elevated white space temperatures. The elevated temperatures followed damage from heavy storms that hit the city overnight. Namecheap described the root cause as a failure of cooling systems.
Several Namecheap services felt the impact. Hosting plans, EasyWP, DNS, and email clients were affected. Some became unreachable. Others showed delays. Customer support tools also ran into problems, which made it harder for users to get help through normal channels.
