AMD held every spot on Amazon’s list of best-selling desktop CPUs through 2025. That streak has broken. Two Intel processors now sit inside the top 10 for the first time in more than a year.
Intel’s Core Ultra 7 270K Plus ranks sixth at $255. The Core i7-14700K sits ninth at $312. Both are mid-range chips. The 270K Plus belongs to the Arrow Lake Refresh series. The 14700K comes from the Raptor Lake Refresh lineup.
AMD Still Fills Most of the List
The rest of the top 10 stays with Ryzen processors from the 9000, 7000, and 5000 series. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D leads the entire ranking.
Budget buyers favor the Ryzen 5 5500, which holds second place. It sits ahead of several higher-priced options: the Ryzen 5 9600X in third, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D in fourth, and the Ryzen 7 7800X3D in fifth.
Seventh and eighth go to the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 5 7600X. The Ryzen 5 5600X closes out the top 10.
In the next ten positions, AMD still supplies eight of the chips. Intel holds just two. That 20 percent share of the top 20 marks a clear step up for Intel after a long stretch of weak results.
How AMD Took Full Control in Late 2024
AMD cleared Intel from Amazon’s best-seller list in November 2024. The shift followed the rocky launch of Intel’s Arrow Lake Core Ultra 200 desktop processors. That month the Ryzen 7 5700X claimed the top sales spot. Intel’s highest-ranked chip, the Core i5-13600KF, sat at number 12.
High DDR5 Prices Push Buyers Toward DDR4 Intel Chips
The recent climb for Intel ties directly to steep DDR5 memory prices. Many builders are choosing to upgrade existing DDR4 systems instead of moving to a new platform that requires DDR5. That choice favors Intel’s Core i9-14900K and Core i7-14700K, both of which support DDR4.
AMD’s higher-end models that require DDR5—the 9850X3D, 9950X, and 9900X—have dropped lower on the list as a result.
