Google has launched Gemini 3.7 Flash, and the biggest upgrade lands with Gemini Spark right away. Spark moves to the new model starting today. That shift gives the cloud-based agent better tool use and stronger results on multi-step work.

Spark already keeps going after you close a laptop or lock a phone. It works across Gmail, Drive, Docs, Calendar, Keep, and Tasks. Google points to jobs like consolidating files, drafting emails, and updating status documents inside Google Workspace as clear wins with the new model.

Recent Chrome updates push those abilities further. Spark can pull in accounts you’re already signed into and passwords saved in the browser. It navigates websites, compares flight options, schedules apartment viewings, and starts bookings. Control still returns to you before any sensitive step such as payments.

Gemini 3.7 Flash aims to make these flows more reliable. The model puts more effort into planning and tool calls. It adapts when it hits roadblocks and should need fewer retries plus less manual help.

Benchmark Results for Automation and Documents

Numbers back the claims. Gemini 3.7 Flash scored 30.4% on AutomationBench. That marks a clear step up from 17% for Gemini 3.6 Flash. It also topped GPT-5.6 Terra at 23.6% and Claude Sonnet 5 at 10.7%.

Document work shows a similar lift. On GDP.pdf the model reached 34%. Gemini 3.6 Flash sat at 22%, Claude Sonnet 5 at 28%, and GPT-5.6 Terra at 24.7%.

Pricing Compared with Other Models

The cost makes the gains stand out. Under introductory pricing through December 31, Gemini 3.7 Flash runs $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens. Claude Sonnet 5 sits at $2 and $10. GPT-5.6 Terra sits at $2 and $12.

Coding Benchmark Gains

Coding tests also improved. Gemini 3.7 Flash hit 43.6% on FrontierCode. That edges past Claude Sonnet 5 at 42.7% and GPT-5.6 Terra at 41.3%. It also beat Gemini 3.6 Flash on DeepSWE.

For Spark the new model looks like a solid step forward. Better tool use and multi-step planning could cut failed tasks and reduce the need for hands-on fixes. Power users still wait on Gemini 3.5 Pro. Google previewed it at Google I/O in May, but the model missed its expected June release and has not shipped yet.
