Capacitive Thumbsticks and Drift Resistance
The Razer Wolverine V4 Pro is a wireless controller for Xbox and PC priced at $199.99. Its main feature is a set of capacitive thumbsticks that Razer says are designed to resist drift.
These thumbsticks use a contactless approach, similar to Hall effect and TMR sensor designs. Because the components do not physically scrape against one another, the setup is intended to reduce the conditions associated with stick drift.
Razer pairs the capacitive thumbsticks with a 16-bit converter. According to the available details, the controller can register roughly 3,000 steps of thumbstick movement while resisting magnetic interference.
Polling Rate on Xbox and PC
The Wolverine V4 Pro advertises an 8,000 Hz polling rate, but that figure applies only when the controller is used on PC.
On Xbox consoles, the controller reaches a maximum polling rate of 250 Hz. This limit comes from Xbox rather than the controller itself. Polling rate refers to how frequently a controller reports input to the connected system, so Xbox users will not receive the headline 8,000 Hz rate.
Razer Wolverine V4 Pro Controls and Customization
Beyond its thumbsticks, the Wolverine V4 Pro includes several controls aimed at players who want additional input options:
- Four removable back buttons with mouse-click switches
- Two claw-grip macro bumpers
- Triggers that can switch between hair-trigger pulls and full-range throttle
The detachable back buttons give users a different physical configuration option, while the trigger settings allow for either shorter pulls or a full trigger range.
Razer Wolverine V4 Pro Price
Razer lists the Wolverine V4 Pro at $199.99.
At a similar price point, Microsoft lists the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 at $197.99. The Elite Series 2 bundle includes a carrying case and charging dock. The Wolverine V4 Pro does not include either of those items.
That difference makes the Razer controller’s pricing more difficult to weigh for buyers comparing high-end Xbox controller options. Still, the Wolverine V4 Pro offers a combination of capacitive thumbsticks, removable back buttons, macro bumpers, and adjustable trigger behavior for Xbox and PC use.
