Razer’s Tartarus V2 Pro is a one-handed gaming keypad built for players who need more controls than a standard keyboard can offer. It packs 31 programmable controls, analog optical switches, a full-sized TMR thumbstick, and 8,000Hz HyperPolling. The device is available now in the US for $199.99.

Analog Optical Switches Gen-2 and Rapid Trigger

The core upgrade is Razer’s Analog Optical Switches Gen-2. These let you set the actuation point anywhere between 0.1 mm and 4.0 mm. That range means you can dial in a feather-light response or demand a deeper press, depending on the game and how you like to play.

Rapid Trigger works alongside the adjustable actuation. A key can reset after as little as 0.1 mm of upward travel. Razer rates the switches for 100 million keystrokes.

Full-Sized TMR Thumbstick

Older Tartarus models used a directional thumbpad. The V2 Pro swaps that for a full-sized TMR thumbstick that delivers true analog movement. Three dedicated buttons sit around the stick.

The combination is useful in MMOs, where ability bars and shortcuts can overwhelm a regular keyboard. FPS players can also treat the stick as another way to handle movement or secondary actions.

8,000Hz HyperPolling and Input Features

Razer included its 8,000Hz HyperPolling technology. That rate is eight times the conventional 1,000Hz polling. The keypad also supports Snap Tap, Snap Flex, Dynamic Keystroke, and Dual-Keypress Priority.

How much of a difference these features make depends on the game and the rest of the setup. Competitive players get tighter control over how inputs register.

Customization and Comfort

The Tartarus V2 Pro stores up to 24 keymaps across three onboard profiles. You can build separate layouts for different titles and switch between them without software. Actuation and Rapid Trigger settings can also be adjusted directly on the keypad itself.

Doubleshot PBT keycaps and foam-dampened switches handle the feel of each press. A redesigned wrist rest slides, rotates, and tilts so you can find a comfortable angle for longer sessions.

Pricing and Positioning

At $199.99, the Tartarus V2 Pro sits in specialist territory. It functions as a hybrid of keyboard, controller, and command center. The mix of analog optical switches, TMR thumbstick, and high polling rate is aimed at players who want an entire set of controls under one hand.
