NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction is now available for GeForce RTX GPUs. The updated neural rendering model is designed to improve image quality in ray-traced and path-traced scenes by replacing traditional hand-tuned denoisers with an AI network trained on an NVIDIA supercomputer.

The model combines denoising and Super Resolution, using temporal and spatial game-engine data to reconstruct sharper, more stable high-resolution images in areas where rays were not sampled. NVIDIA has also announced new DLSS 4.5, ray tracing, path tracing, RTX Mega Geometry, and NVIDIA ACE integrations across upcoming games.

What DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction Adds

DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction uses a second-generation transformer model. According to NVIDIA, the new version provides 35% more compute capability and processes 20% more parameters while maintaining performance similar to the previous model.

The update includes several changes:

  • Efficient Denoiser: A higher-capacity model designed to maintain similar performance to the prior version.
  • Enhanced Super Resolution: Greater spatial awareness and more use of pixel-sampling and motion data from the game engine.
  • Expanded Training Data: A larger training dataset intended to improve scene reconstruction and selection of engine data.
  • Developer Controls: More precise controls for temporal accumulation and model response.

NVIDIA says these changes improve lighting accuracy, temporal stability, and motion clarity in ray-traced and path-traced content.

Examples shown for the new model include cleaner particle effects and reduced snow ghosting in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle™, improved responsiveness from laser lighting in PRAGMATA™, and clearer, more stable CRT static in Alan Wake 2.

How to Enable DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction

DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction requires GeForce Game Ready Driver 580.88 WHQL or later. It is available through an NVIDIA app update by opting in to Early Access releases under Settings > About. NVIDIA states that an official release will follow in September.

After installation, the NVIDIA app setup is:

  1. Open the Graphics section and choose a supported game, or select Global Settings.
  2. Scroll to Driver Settings.
  3. Select DLSS Override - Model Presets.
  4. Choose Custom.
  5. In the Ray Reconstruction menu, select Recommended or Preset F.
  6. Select Apply.

Gears of War: E-Day Introduces RTX Mega Geometry

Gears of War: E-Day is set to launch October 6 with DLSS 4.5, ray tracing, NVIDIA Reflex, and RTX Mega Geometry.

RTX Mega Geometry is designed to improve ray tracing with Unreal Engine 5’s Nanite virtualized geometry system. Nanite allows automatic level-of-detail scaling for game assets, including terrain, buildings, foliage, and other detailed elements.

When Nanite is used with current ray tracing methods, elements may switch to a static low-detail mesh for ray tracing. That can make shadows and reflections differ from the full-detail object shown on screen. NVIDIA says RTX Mega Geometry enables full-detail Nanite geometry in ray tracing, allowing more detailed shadows and reflections.

The technology is scheduled to debut in Gears of War: E-Day and is expected to be adopted later by Microsoft’s DirectX Raytracing 2.0 standard.

CONTROL Resonant Launches With DLSS 4.5 and Path Tracing

Remedy Entertainment’s CONTROL Resonant launches September 24 with DLSS 4.5 and path tracing. The game follows Dylan Faden as he explores zones of a ravaged Manhattan affected by the Hiss, the Mold, and other paranatural threats.

The PC version includes path-traced effects, DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation. It will also be available on GeForce NOW for Ultimate members with GeForce RTX 5080-class performance.

A CONTROL Resonant GeForce RTX 50 Series bundle is available while supplies last. It includes a Steam copy of the game with qualifying GeForce RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti, and 5070 desktop GPUs, graphics cards, laptops, and participating retailer purchases.

DLSS 4.5 Updates for 007 First Light and AION 2

007 First Light already includes DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation. On September 15, it will receive path tracing and DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction. The update adds path-traced lighting, shadows, and reflections.

AION 2 will launch in the West on September 30 for Founder’s Pack buyers, followed by a free-to-play release on October 5. The Unreal Engine 5 MMORPG will support DLSS 4.5 when the Western version becomes available.

Fragmentary Order

Fragmentary Order is a tactical sci-fi first-person shooter set in 2251. Players control remotely deployed clone assets called Freels, which are sent to Repnode stations across the Solar System for contracts, scavenging, and tactical encounters where loss is permanent.

At launch, the game will support DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, hardware-accelerated Lumen and MegaLights ray-traced lighting, and DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction.

ANANTA

ANANTA is an urban open-world RPG from Naked Rain Studio. Players can explore business districts and hidden alleyways, meet characters, form a crew, confront hidden threats, or experience the city’s nightlife.

The game had previously been announced with DLSS 4 support. It will now support DLSS 4.5, including Super Resolution and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, alongside ray tracing.

Aniimo

Aniimo is a free-to-play creature-catching open-world RPG from Pawprint Studios. It will launch with DLSS 4.5, including Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and Super Resolution using the second-generation transformer model.

In early 2027, the game is expected to add NVIDIA ACE. Players will be able to use natural-language voice inputs to interact with their creatures, teach skills, and send them to gather resources. The integration uses a locally hosted, fine-tuned Nemotron Small Language Model running on the player’s GPU.

Beautiful Light

Beautiful Light is a PvPvPvE extraction shooter from Deep Worlds. Players enter hostile areas with up to two teammates to extract artifacts, while player-controlled anomalies can enter the raid.

The game will launch with DLSS 4.5 and hardware-accelerated ray-traced effects.

Black State

Black State centers on a mission from a secret group of scientists called the Architects. Its doors lead to different locations rendered with ray-traced effects.

Previously announced with DLSS 4, the game has been upgraded to DLSS 4.5.

CINDER CITY

CINDER CITY is an open-world tactical shooter set in a post-apocalyptic, near-future Seoul. Players take the role of a Cinderknight searching for their missing daughter while navigating hostile environments, using vehicles and mechs, and facing tactical combat.

The game was previously announced with DLSS 4, NVIDIA Reflex, and ray tracing. It has now been upgraded to DLSS 4.5.

Silver Palace

Silver Palace is an upcoming action RPG set in Silvernia, a Victorian-style industrial metropolis powered by Silverium. Players take the role of the Detective and work with partners to investigate mysteries and confront unknown enemies.

At launch, Silver Palace will support DLSS 4.5 and hardware-accelerated ray-traced reflections.
