LG 720Hz Full HD OLED Panel for ASUS ROG Esports Monitor

LG Display has begun mass production of a 24.5-inch OLED panel designed for esports monitors. The panel runs at a native 1920 x 1080 resolution with a 720Hz refresh rate and a claimed 0.02ms response time.

It addresses a tradeoff found in current high-refresh OLED displays: reaching 720Hz often requires lowering the resolution. LG Display’s new panel maintains Full HD at its top refresh rate.

Native 720Hz at 1920 x 1080

Existing 720Hz OLED monitor options can reduce resolution when switched to their fastest modes. Sony’s 27-inch INZONE M10S II, for example, operates at 2560 x 1440 and 540Hz, then drops to 1280 x 720 for 720Hz operation.

ASUS’ ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W uses a similar approach, offering 540Hz at QHD and 720Hz at 720p.

LG Display says its proprietary driving algorithm allows the new 24.5-inch OLED panel to sustain 720Hz without going below Full HD resolution. The panel therefore combines:

• 24.5-inch OLED display size
• 1920 x 1080 native resolution
• 720Hz refresh rate
• Claimed 0.02ms response time
• Mass-production status

The 24.5-inch format also matches a screen size commonly used in competitive gaming, where a smaller display can help keep more of the action within a player’s natural field of view.

ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace Uses LG’s New Panel

ASUS is the first company set to bring LG Display’s 720Hz Full HD OLED panel to market. Its ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace is built around the 24.5-inch panel.

ASUS announced the monitor with a price of $1,099 and an early Q4 2026 release window. It has also been chosen as the official display for the PGL CS2 Major Singapore 2026.

That placement puts the monitor and its 720Hz OLED panel into a major esports setting. For players focused on extremely high refresh rates without moving down to 720p, the PG259QWS Ace is the first announced monitor based on LG Display’s new panel.

How It Differs From Other 720Hz OLED Monitors

The main difference is resolution at the maximum refresh rate.

LG Display’s panel keeps its Full HD resolution while operating at 720Hz. Sony’s INZONE M10S II and ASUS’ ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W reach 720Hz by reducing their resolution to 1280 x 720 or 720p.

LG Also Offers a 1,000Hz Full HD LCD Esports Monitor

LG also has a 24.5-inch LCD esports monitor that reaches 1,000Hz while retaining its native 1920 x 1080 resolution.

That monitor uses LCD technology rather than OLED. LG’s new 720Hz panel is notable for bringing a 720Hz refresh rate and Full HD resolution together in a 24.5-inch OLED format.
