A native PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI could arrive in the first quarter of 2027, according to a GamesBeat report. The outlet says it confirmed the reported release window with four unnamed industry sources, though Rockstar Games has not officially announced a PC version or a PC release date.

That reported window would mean PC players may not face the kind of extended wait seen with Grand Theft Auto V. Still, the information remains unconfirmed, so it should be treated cautiously until Rockstar shares its plans.

GTA 6 Is Scheduled for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

GTA 6 is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19. At this point, Rockstar has not listed PC among the officially announced platforms.

PC players briefly had reason to hope they could access the game through Xbox Cloud Gaming. A report suggested that GTA 6 was headed to the service, raising the possibility of streaming it to a Windows PC without a native PC release. That possibility did not last long.

Xbox CSO Matthew Ball clarified that GTA 6 would not be streamed to PCs, and the original report was later corrected.

Why a GTA 6 PC Version May Matter Sooner Rather Than Later

PC has become an important part of the wider Grand Theft Auto audience. GTA 5 role-playing is closely connected to PC-only mod frameworks and custom servers, and that scene has become a major part of the game’s streaming presence.

During the first half of 2026, GTA 5 generated 362.2 million hours watched on Twitch. That level of viewership reflects how much interest remains around the game on streaming platforms, particularly through role-playing content.

Twitch CEO Dan Clancy has said that GTA 6’s online experience is coming next year. If the reported early-2027 PC release window is accurate, a native PC version could arrive around the same general period as that online experience.

The Reported Q1 2027 GTA 6 PC Window

GamesBeat reports that Rockstar is targeting the first quarter of 2027 for a native PC release of GTA 6. The report is based on four unnamed industry sources.

There is no official confirmation from Rockstar, and the company has not publicly announced that a PC version is in development. For now, the report points to a possible release window rather than a confirmed launch plan.

If the timing proves correct, the gap between the console and PC launches could be much shorter than it was for GTA 5.

GTA 5’s PC Release Took More Than a Year

Rockstar released GTA 5 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013. Its PC version followed in April 2015, roughly one year and seven months later.

A first-quarter 2027 PC release for GTA 6 would reduce that delay to only a few months after the November console launch. But that comparison depends entirely on the reported release window being correct.

The earlier GTA 5 release pattern shows that Rockstar has previously made PC players wait. That history is one reason the current report is getting attention, even without an announcement from the company.

Unofficial PC Ports Are Also Part of the Conversation

Community developers have recently made progress with console-only games on PC. Projects exist that can run the original PS4 executable of Bloodborne directly on Windows. The playable tester for Konami’s canceled Silent Hills and God of War 3 Remastered have also been reverse-engineered into native PC ports.

There is no indication that Rockstar is directly responding to those projects. Still, the situation adds another consideration to the discussion around how long the company may want to leave GTA 6 without an official PC release.

For now, PC players will need to wait for Rockstar to confirm whether GTA 6 is coming to PC and, if so, when.
